Gretchen Thompson

Gretchen joined Brown Kinion and Company in 2007 when she assumed managerial responsibilities of the Bixby practice. Since then, she’s become a partner in the firm. She is a CPA and specializes in small business accounting with a focus on the Bixby community and the surrounding area. She describes herself as “community oriented” and particularly enjoys working with small, family owned businesses because it allows her to form lasting relationships with clients.

Gretchen actually came to work for Brown Kinion for five years after graduating from the University of Tulsa with her BS in Accounting in 1983, then gained valuable experience in both private and public accounting. For seven years, she and her husband owned their own business, which helps her relate to and give guidance to clients who own their own businesses.

In her first tenure with BK, she handled tax work. She’s always been more interested in tax than auditing. In fact, that was among the chief motivators for joining BK & Company initially after college. “I found the one firm who said you can go directly into tax.”

Gretchen has always held goals of working with the community. She describes community involvement as “her focus since I started.” She’s worked extensively with the Bixby Rotary Club since 2007, and is currently serving as President. She’s also the Treasurer of the Bixby Outreach Center and has had a seat on that board since 2010. She’s also a member of the Bixby Chamber.

Gretchen grew up in Bixby and currently lives in Glenpool on 5 acres with her husband and six dogs. They enjoy spending time at home with their daughter and young granddaughter.
